NLNG is a private sector company competing in the international gas market and for such a company profitability is essential to discharging its responsibilities and to staying in business. It is also our aim to create additional value through protecting the natural environment in which we operate and through the positive impact we can make to the social and overall economic development of Nigeria and our host communities.
NLNG supports the concept of free enterprise and believes that the best interests of society are served by a market economy. Consistent with this belief, NLNG will always negotiate and compete fairly and ethically within the framework of applicable laws and will not prevent others from competing freely with it.
4. Technical and Professional Integrity
Producing and delivering Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is a complex, high technology business. The nature of our relationships with our customers is premised on our ability to supply in accordance with our contractual agreements.
It is therefore vital that our pipelines, plant facilities and ships are built, operated and maintained to the highest international standards by staff and contractors with the qualifications and capacity to do so.
We recruit our staff through fair and transparent processes based on relevant qualifications and potential and without prejudice or preference towards their gender, race, tribe or social connections. We motivate and reward our staff to perform to their full potential. We also seek to foster in our employees a sense of pride in the company.
Finally, we are committed to developing a Nigerian cadre of staff capable of filling each and every position in the Company without compromising standards or profitability.
Staff and contractors working with NLNG believe all accidents, injuries and environmental incidents are preventable and that it is the duty of all to intervene in order to achieve this.
NLNG believes that the most important contribution it can make to the social and material progress of Nigeria is in performing its core activities as effectively and efficiently as possible. In addition, NLNG takes a constructive interest in societal matters, which may not be directly related to its business, reflecting its position as a corporate citizen of Nigeria and to ensure enduring and mutually beneficial relationships with its host communities.
