Environmental Management

NLNG’s Environmental Management aligns with its HSE Policy and Cleaner Future Initiative, driving sustainability and climate action. Key efforts include biodiversity conservation at Finima Nature Park, which serves as a carbon sink and protects rare species. Through initiatives like emissions reduction, waste management, and ecosystem restoration, NLNG actively minimizes its environmental footprint while fostering community partnerships to preserve natural habitats for future generations.

Rangers, Researchers, and Wildlife:

The Heart of FINIMA Nature Park

The Finima Nature Park, established by NLNG in 1999, exemplifies the company’s commitment to conservation and sustainability. Spanning 1,000 hectares of Bonny Island’s rich biodiversity, the park acts as a vital carbon sink, offsetting 247,158.78 MgTCO2e annually. Managed by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, it safeguards endangered species, supports mangrove reforestation, and promotes ecotourism while serving as a hub for environmental research, education, and community engagement.

In 2019, Finima Nature Park celebrated 20 years of existence, as NLNG celebrated 20 years of uninterrupted production and 30 years of incorporation. The park was established on Bonny Island by NLNG in 1999. The site of the nature park is a pristine natural habitat of interesting flora and fauna prevalent on Bonny Island, some endemic only to the Island.
